The Farm at Nostalgiaville is located on the outskirts of Springfield, Tennessee on forty acres of beautiful rolling Tennessee hills, fronted by a magnificent free flowing Carr Creek. Cheri and Paul Bates would like to cordially invite you to visit us at our "Field of Dreams"... the Farm at Nostalgiaville, |
|
| If you
happened to view the movie "Field of Dreams" starring Kevin Costner,
you will recall that he dreamed of playing with great baseball players
of earlier times. The dream convinced him that if he built a
baseball field "They Would Come".
He lived in the corn belt of Iowa, and as a result of his dream, he carved out and constructed a major league quality baseball field in the middle of his corn field. He was of course considered strange and exocentric by his family and neighbors, but was not deterred in fulfilling his dream... and of course the great baseball players of the past materialized out of the cornfield and began playing the game. And "They Came"... baseball fans from all over converged on his farm to see the marvels that he had created from his dream. The Farm is now closed to the public The Farm at Nostalgiaville has been built around the dreams of Cheri and Paul Bates to provide an island of solitude, a place to meditate and leave your problems behind you. On their island you can for a change, just be yourself... and yes... you can dream too. You will begin to feel the magic of the Farm as soon as you approach the drive. In season, a gigantic field of blazing red poppies will dazzle you to your right. A bubbling fountain at the head of the drive produces a small stream of water that will accompany you down a concrete drive and then plunge over a small waterfall into a picturesque pond. A quaint gazebo by the pond will urge you to be its guest at your earliest convenience as you pass the Cabin on your right as you proceed to our parking area. When you emerge from your car, take a deep breath, and you will notice a purity even of the air you will breath during your visit to the Farm. As you stand surrounded with Flowers by Cheri, your blood pressure should drop a notch or two, and you will unconsciously begin the meditation process that will give you more insight into who you really are... and maybe even start your path on deciding who you would really like to be. Within a short walk looms the Village and the "High Tower" with many wonders in its own right which we'll save as a pleasant surprise. Beside the Village is a giant seven-circuit Labyrinth, called a living labyrinth because of the over 200 flower beds located between its paths. And there's more... much more... to define the haunting beauty and solitude of the Farm. You can expand your visit here, via Internet... but seeing is believing... and a visit to the Farm may change your whole outlook on life, like who you are, and what your purpose is. If you can "let go" and find peace within yourself, Nature will be your teacher at the Farm. The Farm at Nostalgiaville was built as a labor of love... not as a commercial venture and we don't charge for visits or tours. If you believe in magic and solitude as we do and you find a little piece of each at the Farm, donation boxes are strategically placed and all donations will help us maintain and create more "Fields of Dreams" for the enjoyment of all. If you really become overwhelmed and enchanted with our dreams, we would welcome discussions about endowments and sponsors to perpetuate the Farm's special magic for future generations. |
