The Farm at Nostalgiaville is located on the outskirts of Springfield, Tennessee on forty acres of beautiful rolling Tennessee hills, fronted by a magnificent free flowing Carr Creek.

You will begin to feel the magic of the Farm as soon as you approach the drive.  A bubbling fountain at the head of the drive produces a frolicking stream of water that will accompany you down a concrete drive and then mischievously plunge over a small waterfall into a picturesque pond.  A quaint gazebo by the pond will urge you to be its guest at your earliest convenience as you pass the Cabin on your right and park beside the Shop building.

When you emerge from your car and take a deep breath, you will notice a purity even of the air you will breath during your visit to the Farm.  As you stand surrounded with Flowers by Cheri, your blood pressure should drop a notch or two, and you will unconsciously begin the meditation process that will give you more insight into who you really are... and maybe even start your path on deciding who you would really like to be.

Carr Creek
wpe355.jpg (9688 bytes) Carr Creek forms the back border of the Farm property.  It is a free flowing, year around stream full of charming aquatic life.  Sun rays and moonbeams create magic patterns that change at their whim on the creeks surface.  Several of the Farms' major features including the Barn, Tree House, Village, Tom's Retreat, and The Homestead front on the creeks edge.  A portion of a one-half mile nature trail meanders along a scenic bluff overlooking the stream.

Old Man Winter adds yet another magical dimension to Carr Creek.
The Pond

A small wet weather stream flows roughly parallel to the entrance drive into what once was a marshy area in front of the Cabin, before it passed under the drive on its way to Carr Creek.  A few well chosen passes with a backhoe created a reservoir that has become a major feature at the Farm.

Water is being pumped through a 4" line from Carr Creek to the pond to maintain a constant level.  It then flows by gravity and is released at the head of Upper Creek.  The water cascades down a steep gradient beside the Barn into the Lower Stream, underneath the Waterwheel, into a large fish pond before it pours over a fifteen foot water fall beside the Sycamore Deck and finally flows back into Carr Creek.
wpeA01.jpg (7154 bytes) A gazebo was built at the head of the Pond accessible by a wooden bridge.  The final touch was provided by the installation of a cascading fountain in the middle of the Pond.  Lights under the fountain provide another magic moment at the Farm as night time approaches.

Upper Creek
The first phase of the Upper Stream project was to construct the upper fish pond.  Massive natural stones were hauled in and carefully placed by crane to form the pond. wpe9B8.jpg (7953 bytes) wpe9B6.jpg (5750 bytes) wpe9C0.jpg (8606 bytes)

The end product made all of our efforts worthwhile... and I hate to over use the word... magical.  On the day after filling the pond, it welcomed a visitor... Throckmorton the Frog.  Throckmorton was unlike any frog we had seen in the area, so we can only assume that he is a free spirit sent to our new pond to dedicate it to a higher purpose.  Now, Throckmorton has pudged up a bit, but in the Spring and Summer he serenades us nightly.  In fact he has been joined by several of his friends and they produce a symphony of frog sounds that must by their pleasing sounds transcend this world.  By the way, lately we have noticed several little Throckmorton's hopping around the pond.

Water is recycled in Throckmorton's pond, so the Upper Creek, while it appears to start at the fish pond, actually begins its tumbling flow below the pond.
Lower Stream & Waterfall
wpeC22.jpg (9548 bytes) The water from the Upper Creek enters the Lower Creek just behind the Waterwheel.  It flows under the Waterwheel, enters a large fish pond,  plunges over a picturesque Water Fall and drops back into Carr Creek.

Waterwheel

wpe9F4.jpg (7694 bytes)

The original vision of the Barn - Tree House complex included a Waterwheel.  The eagerly awaited Waterwheel was finally delivered by its builder from his shop in Kansas City, Missouri, and assembled at its chosen site beside the Barn.

The Animals at the Farm
Alvin, the ravenous chow hound, is the cutest Maltese dog imaginable.  He, like the eight year old, is rambunctious, full of bubbling energy, and when turned loose wants to explore every inch of the Farm.

On November 14, 1999, General Brewer Bernard... "Grand Dog" referred to simply as Brewer, was given to Tom as an early Christmas present.  The cuddly little guy soon grew into a horse of a dog and became everybody's favorite.  Brewer is a friend to everyone, laid back, docile, and takes everything in stride at his leisure... just like the four year old.
